Remembering Dory Previn: An Interview by Peter Sterling in 1974

A never before heard recording gives a fascinating glimpse into the work of a songwriter with experience of voice hearing.

In October 17, 1974, neuroscientist Peter Sterling and musician Dory Previn sat down to record an interview. Peter had written to Dory after developing a deep interest in her work, particularly how she used her experiences of voice hearing and psychiatric treatment in her songwriting.

The recording of that conversation remained in Peter’s archive for more than fifty years. Now, the upcoming Mad in Norway International Film Festival, which will feature a showing of the film Dory Previn – On My Way to Where, gives us the chance to air this fascinating discussion.
