Join us for weekly co-arting!
This group is a co-created space for your creativity. This means that we are all honored for what we do and what we bring to the group and to the collective art practice. There is no tolerance of criticism, as safety is a priority so that the sense of exploration can be tended to and maintained.
Please join us if:
You’re interested in incorporating an art-making practice on your healing journey.
You have art/craft projects you want to have an accountability space for.
You are itching to start a new project.
You want to rekindle an old love of drawing or painting or dancing or anything.
You just want to play with some new materials or mediums.
I am a teaching artist, poet, and earth based spiritual practitioner. My approach to co-arting space is encouraging the conditions for openness, experimentation and play so we can be receptive to the transformations of consciousness that can occur in shared creative spaces. I believe deeply in art as a container for love, and a powerful vehicle for connection with the authentic self, and the beauty that is all around us. Art making is my deepest spiritual practice and reminds me every day to keep transforming all that it means to be human towards peace, service, focus and well-being.
I am asking a suggested donation of $10-15 per session but, it is generally free to attend. I want this space to be accessible for whomever would like to attend. Please keep in mind the suggested donation is just that, suggested, and I am happy to receive what you are able to give in exchange for holding this space each week. Contact me at [email protected] if you’d like to touch base.
Please note: By registering you are agreeing to abide by our comfort agreements which will be read at the beginning of each meeting. This is a non-clinical setting where we do not ‘fix’ other’s experiences or expressions. The group is confidential and its purpose is to come together as a community to explore our creativity without fear of judgement or coercion, and offer each other ways art-making can be a way to cope with difficult life circumstances. If you are a mental health worker of any type, you agree to attend this group as a peer and in a personal capacity ONLY.
Co-Arting sessions will be held on Monday nights at 7PM – 8:30PM EST on Zoom. I really hope to see you there!
Guidelines:
I’ll offer a prompt, but feel free to work on anything you’d like to.
They’ll be a quick check in, depending on the number of people in attendance, we can introduce ourselves. The check-ins are focused on our relationship to our art practice or projects.
Then there will be about an hour of working. Feel free to pipe up during this time if you’d like to talk about your process, ask questions about materials or techniques, or connect with the group about art-making in whatever way. Please stay on the topic of art-making, tho and keep in mind some quiet working time is nice.
After some time of working, we’ll have a short time to share the work. There is no pressure to share, but please do if you’re feeling it.
This is an inclusive group organized around the healing aspects of art-making and non-carceral peer connection. This group is not art-therapy.
There will be absolutely zero tolerance for any personal attacks, threats, spamming, misrepresentations of oneself or others, illegal material, profanity, hate speech, disparaging assertions about a person’s character, discrimination based on a person’s identity or occupation, and calls for violence against any people. Anyone engaging in any of these will be banned from the group immediately.
